Why should you use this calculator?
Many purchases at places like restaurant, salons, and valets let you pay either in cash or many of the non-cash options, such as debit/credit card, PayPal, and Apple Pay. Given current events, paying without using cash is the more prevalent option when going out to the places. With this option, it gives you an opportunity to tip using the same payment method by adding the tip on the receipt. Clerical errors arises in hand-written tip amount that can modify your tip without you noticing on your bank statements.
This tool allows you to reduce this error by tipping an amount that results in a number which is palindromic. This means same number read forwards and backwards. For example, 129.21 is a palindrome. Your tip will have to change significantly to maintain this property unless they can crunch the math to do so. You can easily monitor changes to your tip if your total bill does not observe this palindromic behavior.
